Kitzbühel plays host to the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series Round Three this weekend. The Alpine ski resort is one of the toughest races on the ITU triathlon circuit, where British triathletes are looking for another victory to add to accolades already gained this season.
Alistair Brownlee won Kitzbühel in 2009 and Maxifuel triathlete Stuart Hayes secured his first series win there last year after a breakaway attack on the bike. Both athletes return this year, along with Tim Don, Will Clarke, Harry Wiltshire and David McNamee in the men’s event.

Maxifuel athlete Hayes commented: “Winning last year was a dream come true. I attacked on the bike and was able to get away. There are a lot of strong cyclists there this year, so it could be another tactical race. I expect the pack will be looking out for attacks! It’s sure to be an interesting race on a course that I enjoy.”
Although Hyde Park will be the first opportunity for the athletes to secure Olympic selection, podium finishes will be considered in Kitzbuhel and Hamburg next month.
